Petco will no longer be where two Hawaiian pet owners go.

Gladys Kupuwai and Estelle Green filed a lawsuit against Petco Kaneohe, claiming that their dogs were injured by negligent groomers in the popular pet chain, according to Hawaii News Now.

Kupuwai claims in the suit she dropped off her granddaughter’s dog, Dodo, for grooming at the pet place. When she picked her up she found that the dog’s ear had been chopped off.

Even worse? The store, according to the suit, attempted to glue the damaged part back on, she claims.

Green, whose husband is representing them in the lawsuit, claims her dog was returned with bloody nails because they were cut too short — and missing the tip of his tail.

“The nails are bleeding because they were cut too short, the dog was filthy and the tip of the dog’s tail was cut off,” Green told Hawaii News Now. “They didn’t seem, the people at Petco didn’t seem overly concerned about that.”

She added that the pet store chain offered her another free grooming.

The plaintiffs are seeking unspecified damages.

In a statement, Petco told AP that they are investigating the case.

“We can’t comment on the specifics at this time, but we can tell you that we have very strong standards and policies in place for the care and treatment of animals in our grooming salon and we provide training on those standards and policies for our grooming associates,” the statement said.
