Republican State Assemblywoman Jane Corwin has a small lead over Democratic Erie County Clerk Kathy Hochul in the upcoming special election for the NY-26 Congressional seat, says today’s Siena poll.
Corwin polled at 36%, Hochul at 31% and independent Jack Davis, who’s running on the Tea Party line, has the support of 23% percent of voters. Green Party canadidate Ian Murphy pulled 1% support, with 9% undecided.
“In a district with a seven-point edge for Republicans among enrolled voters and years of Republican representation, Corwin’s support lags behind Republican enrollment, while Hochul’ s nearly matches Democratic enrollment,” said Siena College pollster Steven Greenberg.
The candidates, of course, are running to replace disgraced former Rep. Chris Lee,
