A Texas student on spring break walked out of a beach house on Monday and never returned.

Police and family members are desperately searching for Reny Jose, a 21-year-old Rice University student who vanished in Panama City, Fla.

Jose had arrived in Florida on Saturday, planning to spend spring break with his friends at a two-story rented beachfront home.

He was last seen at about 7 p.m. on Monday. His friends reported him missing on Tuesday morning.

Cops found Jose’s clothing and cell phone in a garbage can near the rented home. His friends had last seen him wearing those same clothes.

Bay County Sheriff’s officers are searching the beach by foot and by helicopter for more traces of the missing student.

Jose is a mechanical engineering major. His family members, who live in Latham, N.Y., have traveled to Panama City to help with the search and get some answers.

A Facebook page has been created to help keep Jose’s friends up to date about the search.

“My family and I are so thankful for all your prayers and support,” sister Reashma Jose wrote.
