It’s amazing they didn’t get cold feet.

Norweigian explorer Borge Ousland and his girlfriend Hege have become the first couple to tie the knot in the North Pole.

The pair wed in a traditional Lutheran ceremony, and said their vows standing before a cross made of skies, explorersweb.com reported. The temperature at the closest Ice Station on the day of the wedding was -23 Celsius (-9.4 Fahrenheit).

The bride and groom were lifted in to the Pole by helicopter for the occasion, along with about 30 guests and a pastor.

The groom wore a traditional Norweigian suit, and the bride wore a long, white dress with a wooly hooded jacket.

And the happy, if freezing, couple had an unwitting wedding crasher.

A British explorer who skied 140 miles to the North Pole was surprised to accidentally stumble upon the arctic nuptials.

“They had a priest here, there were tables set up with mulled wine and champagne and suddenly I come pulling my sledge over the ice and gatecrash the wedding at the North Pole!” Mark Wood, 44, told the UK’s Coventry Observer newspaper.

When the groom saw Wood approaching, he came over to congratulate the skier on finishing the long trek, Wood told the Coventry Observer. Wood was making the journey to the North Pole to raise awareness about climate change.

The wedding ended with a fireworks display and champagne.

Ousland was the first person to walk to the North Pole alone, and the first to ski alone across Antarctica.
