Congressman Charles Rangel spoke to the media Tuesday in his first public appearance since February. 
Rep. Charles Rangel, who has been suffering from a bad back, made his first public appearance in months Tuesday using a walker.
But the longtime congressman insisted his back problems would not stop him from running for reelection.
“I’ll be out there,” Rangel said.
The congressman, who faces a tough June primary challenge as he tries for his 22nd term, got support from his longtime political ally, former Mayor David Dinkins.
“This area will be represented by Charles B. Rangel in the future,” said Dinkins.
