NYPD Sgt. Kwando Karikari-Awere suspected of drunken driving, arrested

And off-duty NYPD sergeant suspected of driving drunk was arrested and suspended from the force Sunday after crashing his vehicle, officials said.

Kwando Karikari-Awere ran into a parked car near the intersection of Morris Ave. and E. 150th St. in the Bronx about 8:40 p.m., cops said.

No one was injured.

Karikari-Awere, 38, who joined the Police Department in 1998, was charged with refusing to take a breath test.
