The school day began with reading, writing and raccoons Tuesday in Brooklyn when a children’s bus driver found a pair of the sleeping critters in his rig.
Apparently revitalized after their nap, the two masked squatters were able to evade the cops who boarded the bus — slipping between one officer’s legs in spectacular fashion.
The driver entered the All American School Bus parked on Avenue U and Mill Ave. in Mill Basin about 9:30 a.m. before making his rounds, cops said.
Instead of finding children, he found two raccoons sawing wood under a seat.
The driver called police and an NYPD Emergency Services Unit team was dispatched to flush out the animals.
But when cops arrived, the roused raccoons gave the cops the slip, racing off the bus towards a nearby bagel store.
Cops ultimately snagged both animals, which were put back into the wild a short time later, police said.
