John Mayer is feeling the “Gravity” of a potential new romance with one of music’s biggest stars.
The singer engaged in a flirty Twitter exchange with Nicki Minaj, which all started when Mayer pondered — seemingly out of the blue — about what the “Anaconda” artist would think of him.
“I spend an inordinate amount of time per day wondering if Nicki Minaj would like me or not,” the 39-year-old Mayer tweeted.
Minaj, 34, responded shortly after Mayer’s tweet with an endearing reference to one of Mayer’s biggest hits.
“Would my body be your wonderland?” she wrote, before later adding in a separate tweet, “Asking for a friend.”
Naturally, Minaj’s response hit quite the high note for Mayer, who promptly responded: “Please hold, losing my s—. This isn’t my reply yet.”
Mayer is yet to come forward with his official reply.
That hasn’t, however, stopped fans from reacting to the exchange. Many expressed their surprise or confusion for the out-of-the-blue conversation, while even Bravo TV host Andy Cohen weighed in.
“She would roll her eyes at you endlessly,” Cohen tweeted to Mayer.
The exchange also caused some to recall a cringe-worthy 2010 Playboy interview in which Mayer discussed dating black women and compared his penis to a “white supremacist.”
Minaj is recently single after breaking up with her longtime boyfriend, the rapper Meek Mill, earlier this year.
Mayer, meanwhile, has dated Katy Perry, Taylor Swift and Jessica Simpson, among others, in the past.
