Lena Dunham’s speaking tour ended before it even got started as she continues to experience pain following endometriosis surgery.
The actress and sitcom creator canceled her upcoming “Lenny IRL Tour,” revealing she’s in too much pain to go forward with it.
“I’m in the greatest amount of physical pain that I have ever experienced,” she wrote in a post on her website Friday. “After being told I was endometriosis-free after my last procedure, more disease was found in deeper spots that required immediate surgery and now physical therapy.”
“My body, which I’ve worked through all kinds of pain for many years, just doesn’t have what it takes to do this tour.”
Dunham, 31, was forced to leave the Met Gala earlier this month after experiencing complications form endometriosis. She was rushed from the gala to the hospital, according to People.
The “Girls” creator has often spoken about having the disorder, which occurs when tissue that’s supposed to line a woman’s uterus begins to grow outside of it, often leading to chronic pain.
Dunham’s “Lenny” tour was slated to begin on May 31, with trips to six cities on the schedule. The speaking events were set to feature nine different contributors to her “Lenny” online newsletter, including “Saturday Night Live” comic Sasheer Zamata, Brooklyn-based poet and writer Jenny Zhang and stand-up comedian Jacqueline Novak.
Dunham said tickets to the canceled shows will be refunded.
