Not all heroes wear capes. Some wear hard hats.

One Dallas County thief found that out quickly when he decided to steal a $1,200 saw from a construction site in University Park, Texas. A neighbor’s home surveillance system managed to catch the entire affair on tape.

After sneakily pulling up next to the site in his red sedan, the thief spots the expensive tool on the ground, snatches it, and makes a dash back to his car. Unfortunately for him his crime doesn’t go unseen by the construction crew as four workers come sprinting after him. In a move straight out of a Hollywood action film, one worker leaps onto the hood of his car and holds on tight as the thief throws it in reverse and speeds out of frame. The other workers hop in their truck and gun it after them.

Less than a minute later the thief’s car comes back into frame, with the same worker still clinging tightly to the hood and the others in hot pursuit. The video ends with their truck nearly ramming his sedan off the road.

Sadly the thief did manage to get away and police are still searching for the suspect. Fortunately however, the construction worker on the hood walked away unscathed. The video of the ordeal, uploaded to YouTube on Friday, has over a million views at this point. Despite their failure to catch the crook, I don’t think I’m alone when I say this is one construction crew you don’t want to mess with.
