Sheila Bond, known best for her Tony Award-winning role in “Wish You Were Here,” died on March 25.
She was 90.
The native New Yorker died at home in Manhattan barely a week after her birthday, her niece, Sheri Smith, told The Hollywood Reporter.
Bond acted opposite Sid Caesar in 1948 in the Broadway show “Make Mine Manhattan,” then played Judy Holliday’s sister in the 1952 movie “The Marrying Kind.”
In 1953, she won the Tony for Distinguished Supporting or Featured Musical Actress for her role as Fay Fromkin in Arthur Kober and Joshua Logan’s “Wish You Were Here,” a musical about a summer camp for adults that famously featured a full-sized pool in the stage at the Imperial Theatre..
Bond is survived by her daughter Lori, her son Brad, and five grandchildren
