A little boy from Louisville, Kentucky, is warming everyone’s heart with his “haircut prank.”

The boy’s mom, Lydia Rosebush, posted on Facebook that her almost 5-year-old son Jax wanted to get his head shaved really close so he could look identical to his best friend, Reddy Weldon.

Jax thought his new ‘do would trick his teacher and she wouldn’t be able to tell the boys apart, although Jax is white and Reddy is black.

“This morning Jax and I were discussing his wild hair,” Rosebush captioned an older photo of Jax and Reddy standing side-by-side. “I told him that he needed a haircut this weekend.”

“He said that he wanted his head shaved really short so he could look like his friend Reddy,” she continued. “He said he couldn’t wait to go to school on Monday with his hair like Reddy’s so that his teacher wouldn’t be able to tell them apart. He thought it would be so hilarious to confuse his teacher with the same haircut.”

Although there is an obvious difference between the two preschoolers, Rosebush said it shows that “hate and prejudice is something that is taught.”

According to her, the only difference Jax sees between him and his best friend is their hair.

In an interview with ABC 13, Rosebush said she found it funny that her young son doesn’t pay attention to Reddy’s skin color.

“When he describes Reddy he never mentions it,” she told the outlet. “I thought with all the hate in the world today, we could use this lesson from an almost 5-year-old.”

Jax got his hair cut Tuesday and Reddy, who was adopted along with his brother by a white family, was right there to keep his friend company.
