Gary Goldsmith, uncle of Duchess of Cambridge Kate Middleton, was sentenced in court Tuesday after pleading guilty to punching his wife.

Goldsmith, 52, was fined $6,650 and sentenced to attend 20 rehab sessions after attacking Julie-Ann Goldsmith in October, according to The Telegraph.

He will not serve any jail time.

The Goldsmiths had been at a charity event on the night of Oct. 13 and Gary began arguing with Julie-Ann in the cab home.

Julie-Ann slapped Gary during one point in the argument, to which he responded by punching her in the face.

She fell backwards and hit her head on the ground, which knocked her unconscious for about 15 seconds.

Gary Goldsmith denied that he had punched his wife, telling police he had instead pushed her, but later admitted and said he was “humbled” by the attack.

Julie-Ann Goldsmith said in a statement that she now suffers panic attacks and rarely leaves the house.

“I find it very hard to face people and I am a prisoner in my own home,” her statement read, according to The Telegraph.

“This whole incident has caused me a lot of stress and anxiety — I do not know how much hurt and upset I can take.”

During sentencing, the judge referred to Gary Goldsmith, the brother of Kate Middleton’s mother, as a “nasty drunk.”
