President Trump took aim at North Korea by calling Kim Jong Un “short and fat” during his latest assault of words from Vietnam.

“Why would Kim Jong-un insult me by calling me ‘old,’ when I would NEVER call him ‘short and fat,’ ” Trump tweeted from his Hanoi hotel Sunday morning, effectively commenting on the leader’s height and weight.

The President added a final touch of sarcasm in his tweet: “Oh well, I try so hard to be his friend — and maybe someday that will happen.”

Trump was responding to a harsh rebuke from the isolated nation’s Foreign Ministry calling on the U.S. to oust their President, who North Korean officials branded a “lunatic old man.”

Trump, 71, is more than twice Kim’s age. The supreme leader is 33.

Trump penned the childish insult during day 10 of his Asia tour, which he has spent asking world leaders to help end the North’s nuclear weapons program. He renewed that call during a brief press conference alongside Vietnamese President Tran Dai Quang at his palace Sunday.

“We want progress, not provocations,” Trump said. “I mean, we have been provoked. The world has been provoked.”

The briefing came to an end shortly after Trump was asked about his flippant tweet and whether he believed friendship between the two nations could become reality.

“Anything is a possibility,” Trump said, casting a tone of skepticism during his remarks.

“Strange things happen in life. That might be a strange thing to happen,” he told reporters. “It would be a good thing, I can tell you, for North Korea.”

Trump is expected to fly to his final stop in the Philippines later on Sunday.
