Michael Bloomberg’s magician will be working his magic in D.C.

Kamran Mumtaz, ex-Mayor Bloomberg’s former City Hall spokesman who is famous in political circles for his ability to perform difficult card tricks, has been appointed to lead communications for Citi’s government operations in Washington, D.C., ahead of the 2016 elections.

Mumtaz will also be in charge of communications for operations, technology and cyber security.

The Queens native will relocate to the capital for the role.

“Kam has established an outstanding track record at a young age and never shies away from a challenge,” said Citi’s Head of Global Public Affairs Ed Skyler, who was Bloomberg’s deputy mayor.

“Given the climate we are in, this is the perfect assignment for him.”

Mumtaz first joined Citi in January 2014 following the end of the Bloomberg administration.

As Bloomberg’s spokesman, his portfolio included the Police and Fire Departments and the Office of Emergency Management, as well as a multi-billion dollar municipal budget.

A tickled Bloomberg would also occasionally ask him to show some card tricks.
