Tom Cruise has finally and officially been confirmed to fly again as Maverick for “Top Gun 2.”
After months of rumors, mega producer Jerry Bruckheimer revealed the long- awaited news to Entertainment Tonight on Thursday.
“Yeah, of course!” Bruckheimer responded when asked if Cruise was coming back.
“You don’t make Top Gun without Tom Cruise!” he added.

A sequel to the classic original has been gestating for years but it was unclear if the famous Scientologist would reprise his iconic role.
Bruckheimer further fueled rumors in January when he tweeted a photo with Cruise.
“Just got back from a weekend in New Orleans to see my old friend @TomCruise and discuss a little Top Gun 2,” he captioned the image.
It’s been 30 years since the hit 1986 movie, which also memorably starred Val Kimer, Ahtony Edwards and Kelly McGills. Director Tony Scott died in 2012.

Kilmer also announced last year that he would be climbing back into the cockpit but then backtracked on the casting news.
The film was an instant success, raking in over $350 million and becoming the highest grossing film of the year.
