Life may be a moderately good play with a badly written third act — but Truman Capote is finally taking a curtain call 32 years after his death.
The “In Cold Blood” author’s ashes were auctioned off Saturday for a stunning $45,000.
The writer’s mortal remains were part of the estate of Joanne Carson, the late wife of former Tonight Show host Johnny Carson.
Carson, who died last year, was a close friend of Capote and hosted him at her Bel-Air mansion, where he died of liver disease in 1984. The ashes, housed in a carved Japanese wooden box, were estimated to sell for $4,000.
