The son of film star Mia Farrow paid tribute to his late brother Thaddeus with a short-but-sweet Instagram post in the wake of his tragic suicide.
Ronan Farrow remembered Thaddeus with a pair of photos from his youth, four days after the 27-year-old died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound to his torso.
“Rest in peace, brother,” Farrow captioned the Instagram post Sunday. “I never knew anyone stronger, or who overcame more.”
Thaddeus, who was a paraplegic due to a battle with polio, was found seriously injured inside his car on Wednesday afternoon. He was pronounced dead in the hospital less than two hours later.
The Connecticut medical examiner’s office deemed the death the result of a “suicide gunshot wound” the following day.
Mia Farrow, 71, adopted Thaddeus in 1994 from an orphanage in Calcutta, India, two years after her split from film director Woody Allen, who is Ronan’s father.
Shortly after his death, Mia released a heartfelt statement on social media.
“We’re devastated by the loss of Thaddeus, our beloved son and brother,” she tweeted Thursday. “He was a wonderful, courageous person who overcame so much hardship in his short life. We miss him.”
Thaddeus was featured in a Vanity Fair story about his mother’s 14 children in 2013. The profile piece detailed his mistreatment at the orphanage, where he was “chained to a post, and kids would throw rocks at him” before being adopted by Farrow.
“It was scary to be brought to a world of people whose language I did not understand, with different skin colors,” Thaddeus told the magazine. “The fact that everyone loved me was a new experience, overwhelming at first.”
Mia Farrow has now lost three of her adopted kids. She has 11 living children, seven of whom were adopted.
