It’s a “Christmas” miracle 23 years in the making.
Mariah Carey’s holiday megahit “All I Want for Christmas Is You,” released in 1994, has jingled all the way onto the Billboard Hot 100’s Top 10 for the first time.
The yuletide earworm is currently perched at No. 9. The tune in which Carey warbles “I don’t want a lot for Christmas, there is just one thing I need …” previously peaked at No. 11.
“This is such an amazing Christmas gift!” Carey, 47, told Billboard. “As a songwriter, I feel so honored to have this song reach Billboard’s [Hot 100] Top 10 for the first time.”
Carey wrote the song with Walter Afanasieff and first released it on her 1994 holiday album, “Merry Christmas.”
“I honestly never thought we’d be talking about this happening,” the Christmas queen added, “but I’m so thankful to everyone who embraces this song as part of their holiday tradition.”
The achievement marks Carey’s 28th Hot 100 top 10, which ties her with Stevie Wonder for the fifth-most top 10s.
