Keegan-Michael Key has put his first marriage behind him.
The comedian finalized a settlement in the divorce from his wife of almost 20 years, Cynthia Blaise, on Thursday. The settlement was agreed to in May, but was approved by a judge last week— just beforeKey announced he was engaged to his new girlfriend.
Key, 46, has to fork over $34,000 per month to Blaise, 59, who he married in 1998, as well as an additional 31% of his gross income for anything more than $2.1 million per year, according to documents obtained by TMZ.
However, Blaise’s spousal support does cap out — at $700,000 per year. The two officially became divorced in May 2017, but the details of the settlement were just entered publicly this week.
The “Key and Peele” star also shelled out $655,000 to Blaise as part of the divorce settlement in order to even out the split of assets. She got a timeshare in Mexico as part of the deal, while Key held on to his Tesla and several of his bank accounts.
On Tuesday, Key took to Twitter to share the good news that his girlfriend Elisa Pugliese said yes to his proposal.
“She shows me every day that each one of us has the ability to help make the world a better place. I’m the luckiest man ever. She said yes!” he wrote.
It is unclear when Key and Pugliese began dating as they kept their relationship mostly under wraps.
