The task force in charge of examining school overcrowding needs a better method of assessing space, Public Advocate Letitia James says.

In letters obtained by the Daily News Wednesday, James backed reforms sought by members of the so-called Blue Book working group, which will propose reforms to the Education Department.

She recommended including capacities of gyms, auditoriums and cafeterias in assessments of classroom space.
