If Charlie Hunnam had to miss this year’s San Diego Comic-Con, he made up for it by issuing an apology — in the buff.

The star filmed a tongue-in-cheek video to explain to attendees of “Sons of Anarchy’s” Comic-Con panel why he had to miss the Sunday event.

“Hello, lovely people of Comic-Con,” the clip begins, with Hunnam speaking to the camera as he gets a massage, with only a towel covering him. “I’m recording you this message because unfortunately I can’t be with you this year.”

“I hate to miss Comic-Con on the final season of the show. But for the future and safety of America, my presence is required elsewhere.”

The camera pulls back to reveal Hunnam getting the royal treatment from two of his “Sons of Anarchy” co-stars, Mark Boone Jr. and Tommy Flanagan. Boone is giving the 34-year-old a massage, while Flanagan is giving him a manicure.

“You gotta go do a photo shoot for Vogue magazine?” asks Boone, resulting him getting slapped with a towel by Boone.

“How about a little bit more rubbin’ and a little less talking,” Hunnam demands.

“This is the seventh season of the show,” he continues. “For a show to stay on the air that long requires the massive support of our amazing and loyal fans. So I just want to take the opportunity to say thank you.”

Hunnam’s speech is interrupted by “Sons” co-star Kim Coates, who asks him if he’d like fruit with his Perrier. The TV star responds by throwing the glass of water into Coates’ face.

“Anyway,” Hunnam says as Coates cools him off with a giant feathered fan, “Enjoy Comic-Con. Enjoy the panel. This is Charlie Hunnam saying thank you. I love you.”

But even with Hunnam acting like a diva, Boone gets the last laugh, giving his co-star a big slap on his rear.

The sketch was penned by Hunnam and directed by Paris Barclay, the show’s executive producer, according to Zap2It.

The seventh and final season of “Sons of Anarchy” premieres Sept. 9 on FX, with Lea Michele, Marilyn Manson and Courtney Love among the celebs who will guest star on the show.
