A cat stuck in a tree Monday — but it was really the cop the Fire Department came to rescue.

The FDNY came to the aid of an NYPD officer who became trapped while trying to save the frightened feline in Queens, officials said.

The uniformed cop shimmied nearly 30 feet up the tree near Public School 213 in Bayside to reach the stranded black and white cat, sources and witnesses said. Suddenly, both were clinging to branches and unable to get down.

Firefighters from Ladder Co. 160 responded to calls for help around 2:40 p.m. and spent about 20 minutes plucking the cop and cat from harm’s way.

“The cat was at the tip of the branch and the branch was shaking,” said Peter Kim, 12, who watched the wild rescue. “The cat was nervous.”

As for the officer — he appeared to take it all in stride.

“He was waving at us,” Peter said.
