The Daily News’ Innovation Lab has announced the launch of its “Conversations” series, which will focus on intriguing trends in publishing and new media.

The first event, titled “The New News Organization,” will explore the huge rise in the number of digital outlets shaping the media landscape. The debut panel discussion will take place on Oct. 15 in New York City.

“Media change is no longer occurring by the year but by the minute,” Daily News CEO Bill Holiber said. “The Innovation Lab’s Conversations series will tap the industry’s most dynamic players to understand where this surge of change is taking us.”

The inaugural event next month will feature an all-star lineup of journalists. BuzzFeed Deputy Editor in Chief Shani Hilton, Vice News Editor in Chief Jason Mojica, The Verge Editor in Chief Nilay Patel and Business Insider Executive Editor Joe Weisenthal will speculate on what lies ahead. Innovation Lab Director David Park will moderate the discussion.

“There’s been a wave of energetic and innovative digital media outlets changing the way we produce and consume news,” Lab Managing Director Cyna Alderman said. “This event will take a close look at where change is occurring today and how success is being defined — and achieved — in this new media environment.”

The Innovation Lab, founded last year, aims to provide select early stage start-ups with guidance, technical support, seed money and a crucial testing ground to cultivate tech products that will transform the media business.

The Oct. 15 debut “Conversations” event will take place at the Microsoft Technology Center at 11 Times Square in New York, with registration starting at 6:30 p.m.

Tickets, which are limited, are available for $15 through Eventbrite.
