Florida developers have swapped out the name of the posh new condos they are building because the original moniker, ISIS, has emerged as the brand name for Islamic terror.
Developers Kolter Group and Ram’s new 16-story, 213-unit condo building in West Palm Beach is now known as 3 Thirty Three Downtown, instead of ISIS Downtown, the Palm Beach Post reported.
The original name was meant to evoke the structure’s sleek design, the newspaper said.
But, over the past few months, it became more familiar to Americans as the acronym for the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria, the fanatical jihadist group that has cut a murderous swath through Syria and Iraq.
The Post said the groups’ honchos quietly changed the name a few weeks ago.
“It’s scarily negative,” Palm Beach realtor Tim Harris told the Post.
Two-bedroom digs at the condo at 333 Fern Street start at $300,000, and the building also features a pool, spa and other luxury amenities.
