TALK ABOUT a whisky rebellion!

A Japanese single malt has been named the best whisky in the world by an industry watchdog — and for the first time, there are no Scottish distilleries in the top five.

Yamazaki Single Malt Sherry Cask 2013 was awarded the top honor by Jim Murray, whose 2015 edition of the Whisky Bible comes out next week.

The Yamazaki is so good that it should be a “wakeup call” for Scottish booze makers, Murray told The Daily Mail, which got an advance copy.

The “bible” is the fruit of Murray’s difficult labors; he sampled 4,700 whiskies as he prepared the latest edition.
