Norway has officially plugged in to the Tesla phenomenon!

The Tesla Model S electric luxury sedan earned bragging rights as the most-registered vehicle in the Scandinavian country in March, reports Hegnar Online. Nearly 1,500 of the high-end plug-in rides were registered by Norwegians in March, more than double the registrations of the runner-up Volkswagen Golf and making up more than 10 percent of all vehicle registrations in the country.

It even managed to outpace registrations of Ford’s entire Norwegian product range.

The Model S starts at $63,570 in the United States after a $7,500 federal tax credit, while Tesla’s Norwegian site lists the Model S with a starting price of 463,800 Norwegian krone ($77,530).

Tesla has six showrooms in Norway.

Tesla has faced controversy in the United States regarding its sales practices in the past few weeks as New Jersey passed a law to prevent the automaker’s direct-to-consumer sales. Similar rules are also in affect in Texas and Virginia, while New York just reached an agreement with the startup automaker to allow continued sales at existing showrooms.

In 2013, Tesla saw its sales double in the United States.
