The pampered Pomeranian pooch that had a star turn in Katy Perry’s award-winning “Dark Horse” video can now add to his list of accomplishments “World’s Fastest Dog on Two Legs.”
Jiff, who boasts more than 1.3 million Facebook fans smashed the Guinness World Record for the 5- and 10-meter dash using only his hind and front legs, respectively, according to officials.
Rearing up on his back legs, the 4-year-old pooch took just 6.56 seconds to complete the longer course. The Los Angeles doggie then notched an equally impressive 7.76 seconds dashing the shorter 5 meters on his front paws.
Jiff will now appear in the next edition of the Guinness Book of World Records, which hits stands in September.
Editor in Chief Craig Glenday said that when the canine first walked into the office he wasn’t sure he was real.
“He looks like a living, breathing cuddly toy,” he said.
But running isn’t the adorable dog’s only talent — he can also shake hands, bow, skate and stamp his own autograph.
“He might be tiny but he’s got a huge personality, and his wealth of talents can’t be doubted,” said Glenday. “He certainly deserves his place in the new Guinness World Records book, which is particularly special this year because it marks our 60th anniversary.”
It’s unclear exactly when and where the record was broken, and Jiff’s owners want to remain anonymous so they don’t draw attention away from their prized pet.
Perry’s “Dark Horse” video snagged the award for Best Female Video at MTV’s Video Music Awards on Aug. 24.
