Meg Ryan is coming back to television-or at least her voice is.

The actress, 52, has landed the role as the unseen narrator in the pilot of the CBS spin-off “How I Met Your Dad,” Entertainment Weekly reports.

The actress will play the voice of “future Sally,” a role analogous to the Bob Saget narration for future Ted in “How I Met Your Mother.” Ryan herself will remain behind the camera.

Indie darling Greta Gerwig has already been tapped to play the non-future version of Sally in the spin-off, a woman who reveals her search for a romantic relationship after marrying the wrong man.

The pilot is in contention for a series order on CBS’ schedule next season.
