An economist working for City Controller John Liu was fined for using city time and resources to advance her political career.

The city Conflicts of Interest Board found that Yudelka Tapia used her government computer and email account to work on her failed bid for a Bronx City Council seat, as well as her post as Democratic district leader.

Tapia, an economist in the audit bureau, also attended a Campaign Finance Board hearing for her campaign on city time. She has been fined $4,480.

Earlier this year, the board fined Assemblyman Walter Mosley’s mother, who works as an administrative manager in Liu’s office, for working on her son’s campaign on city time. Neither Tapia nor Liu’s office responded to requests for comment.
