Actor Patton Oswalt has broken his silence on the sudden death of his wife with a short but sweet tribute.
The 47-year-old comedian took to Twitter on Friday to remember his crime writer wife Michelle McNamara a week after her death.
“She wrote lines that stung & hummed. 13 years in her presence was happily humbling. #RIPMichelleMcNamara,” he wrote.
The “King of Queens” star also shared a link asking for donations to writing and tutoring nonprofit 826LA, which offers homework assistance and writing workshops to kids.
The 46-year-old writer died in her sleep last Thursday. No cause of death was given but Oswalt’s publicist, Kevin McLaughlin, said the passing “was a complete shock to her family and friends, who loved her dearly.”
It could be months until officials determine why McNamara died, the Hollywood Reporter recently wrote, adding the Los Angeles County coroner’s office is backed up.
McNamara, who was the founder of website True Crime Diary, married Oswalt in 2005. They have a 7-year-old daughter, Alice.
Several stars tweeted their condolences to Oswalt following the news of McNamara’s unexpected passing and he has since retweeted a few of the tributes.
“Oh my God, @pattonoswalt – my heart breaks for you & your family’s devastating loss,” filmmaker Kevin Smith wrote on Twitter. “If you need any help, I’m here.”
