The de Blasio administration plans to announce that it has certified more than 4,100 minority- and women-owned businesses in the past 12 months, a record number well above last year’s previous high.

Once they’re certified as Minority- and Women-Owned Business Enterprises, the businesses will have access to programs and services to help them win bids for city contracts.

Officials expect that with the increased number of certified companies, an estimated $16 billion will be awarded to M/WBEs in the next years.

“This historic milestone matters,” said Maya Wiley, counsel to the mayor.
