SAT college entrance exam scores fell for a fifth year in a row nationwide, while New York state scores inched up slightly.

The College Board, which administers the test, said Thursday that the Class of 2015 had a 1490 mean score out of 2400, down 7 points from 2014. Performance slipped nationally on all sections: math, writing and critical reading.

Statewide, average scores for New York SAT takers in 2015 were 489 in reading, 502 in math and 478 in writing, for an average total score of 1,469.

That’s almost identical to 2014 when statewide average scores were 488 in reading, 502 in math and 478 in writing, for an average total score of 1,468.

A record 1.7 million students took the test nationwide in 2015.
