A community in Istanbul made sure a hearing impaired man understood they cared about him.

The technology company Samsung organized the heartwarming surprise to help a man named Muharrem feel connected to his community in an online video to promote its new video call center for hearing impaired customers.

The video shows sign language instructors working with people in Muharrem’s neighborhood for one month as they prepared for the surprise.

On Dec. 28 the plan went into fruition and when Muharrem walked around with his sister he was hit with the unexpected change.

From the man who wished him good morning as they passed on the street, to the owner who assured him they had hot bagels that morning, suddenly people were communicating with him through sign language.

When someone on the street signed that he wanted to offer him an apple Muharrem asked his sister if he was also hearing impaired.

But after the fourth person communicated with him he started to catch on and the siblings took a taxi to the biggest surprise.

They arrived at a public center and found a video billboard with a special message for Muharrem announcing their new call center.

“A world without barriers is our dream as well,” the company said.

The touched Muharrem began to cry and hug his new friends.
