A sick NYU student set fire to a fellow classmate who fell asleep in his dorm — singing as he recorded her awakening to flames consuming the mattress, authorities said Tuesday.

Jaime Castano, 20, was busted Monday for the creepy attack on the 19-year-old woman at his 80 Lafayette St. dorm room about 11 p.m. on Aug. 23. Castano was arraigned on first-degree assault and reckless endangerment charges Manhattan Criminal Court on Tuesday.

Castano admitted to cops that he took a cell phone video showing the victim “asleep in his bed with flames on her clothing while [HE] sang, then showed her waking up and trying to put out the flames while he recorded it,” according to court papers.

He was ordered held on $50,000 bond or $25,000 cash bail at his arraignment.

The victim suffered “painful burns and scarring to her torso,” according to the criminal complaint.

The victim, who was intoxicated, wasn’t aware of what caused the blaze until the next day when she was Castano’s video on Snapchat, police sources said.

Prosecutors said Tuesday the victim reported the attack to school officials but the college did not report the crime to police until Oct. 27, more than two months after it occurred.

A spokesman for the school declined comment on the delay but said Castano was expelled in September because of the attack.

Castano is due back in court on Friday to learn if he has been indicted.

His attorney could not immediately be reached for comment.
