A mourning Mississippi man was overjoyed to find a note his wife of 60 years had written and hidden for him days before she died that said: “We will meet again.”

Jimmy Breland was still coming to terms with the death of love-of-his-life Billie when, just two days after her passing on Jan. 13, he spotted the message tucked inside her checkbook.

“Please don’t cry because I died! Smile because I lived! Know that I’m in a happy place!” the 83-year-old had written.

“Know that we will meet again! I’ll see you there!” she added.

The couple’s grandson Cliff Sims detailed the extraordinary discovery on the YellowHammer News website.

“She was an avid note writer,” he wrote of his former public schoolteacher grandmother who he said would often leave messages to herself around her Cleveland, Mississippi, home.

“We don’t know exactly when she did it, but she left one final note tucked inside her checkbook — but this one wasn’t for her, it was for my Grandaddy,” he stated.

“And it perfectly sums up the hope and comfort that comes with knowing you’ll meet again in eternity,” Sims added.

Sims, from Birmingham, Alabama, initially shared a picture of the note on Facebook.

“My Mimi passed away this week, but left this in her checkbook for my Grandaddy to find. They were married over 60 years. Wow,” he posted alongside the snap. The couple married in 1954.
