A snow squall quickly turned a New Hampshire highway into an ice rink Friday, sending some 35 vehicles sliding into each other, with at least one vehicle bursting into flames, authorities and witnesses said.
Interstate 93 northbound in Ashland, N.H., has been shut down as authorities work to clear the massive wreck, reported Friday morning after a quick-moving snow squall dumped a band of white stuff on the area some 90 miles west of Portland, Maine.
The snow moved in just before 10 a.m., WCVB-TV reported, as weekend skiers making for the hills took to the roads, bringing heavy traffic.
The road was reopened around 1 p.m. Authorities said no injuries suffered in the wreck are life-threatening.
