Snatching up one of Hollywood’s most eligible bachelors sure is fascinating.
Amal Clooney was named the “Most Fascinating Person of 2014” by Barbara Walters, and her Italian wedding to A-lister George Clooney is what landed her there.
“What does it take to fascinate one of the most fascinating men in the world?” Walters said of Amal during her “10 Most Fascinating People of 2014” special, which aired Sunday on ABC.
“You could say hers was the wedding of the year, but let’s put it into perspective, it was really one of the greatest achievements in human history.
“Everyone always said no one could ever get George Clooney to the alter,” Walters continued, reminding viewers of his eternal bachelor way of life.
Walters then took a trip down memory lane when she flashed back to clip of her interviewing Clooney in 1995 where he said he “won’t marry again.”
“How do you know you won’t marry again?” Walters, 85, pressed him.
“I know because I wasn’t very good at it,” he said of his brief marriage to actress Talia Balsam.
Walters went on to rattle off Clooney’s long list of ladies that came between his two weddings.
“Amazingly Amal has been the subject of very little snark or envy, maybe because we, like George Clooney, find it impossible to resist perfection,” she said of the power couple.
“Or maybe because it is heartening to think that no matter how long it may take, the perfect someone is out there for everyone. And that, for us, makes (Amal) the most fascinating person of 2014.”
The British human rights lawyer did not sit down with Walters for an interview, but that didn’t stop her from scoring one of TV veteran’s most coveted spots.
Others who made the list included Taylor Swift ,Oprah Winfrey, Chelsea Handler, Neil Patrick Harris, Elon Musk, George R.R. Martin, David Koch, Scarlett Johansson and Michael Strahan.
