Anthony Weiner sang the praises of his wife Huma Abedin Monday – but wouldn’t address reports that Abedin faces a choice between a job with Hillary Clinton’s 2016 presidential campaign and her marriage to Weiner.

Weiner spoke after a Clinton associate was quoted by New York magazine as saying a likely 2016 presidential run would leave Abedin in a bind.

“Huma has a choice to make,” the friend reportedly said. “Does she go with Anthony, or does she go with Hillary?”

Weiner on Monday was asked repeatedly about the quote, but would not directly respond to to it.

“Look, I know there has been a lot of damage done, collateral damage, because of the decisions I have made in my personal life, and I have alot of people I have to make it up to,” Weiner said as he left his Park Ave. South apartment building.

“As far as Huma, she is one of the most talented people I know in public life, and I think everyone who works with her knows that.”

Abedin is a longtime aide to Hillary Clinton.

Weiner’s mayoral campaign imploded in late July when it was revealed that he had resumed sexting in the summer of 2012, a year after he gave up his seat in Congress for similiar behavior.

The day after the new sexting allegations surfaced, Abedin stood at her husband’s side at a news conference defending him. It would be her last appearance with him on the campaign trail.

Weiner finished a distant fifth in the Democratic Primary for mayor on Sept. 10. When he made his concession speech, Weiner stood alone, without his wife at his side.
