ALBANY — Going to the Department of Motor Vehicles was an even more excruciating experience than usual Monday.
The DMV’s computer system crashed, making it nearly impossible for motorists to renew licenses or get anything else done, agency spokeswoman Jackie McGinnis said.
McGinnis said problems developed after technicians installed an upgrade to the DMV’s mainframe Sunday.
The outage affected services at DMV offices and on its website.
McGinnis said officials from the state’s Office of Information Technology Services were working on the problem and hoped to have the system back up and running by Tuesday morning.
