Don’t drink and tip.
A Canadian man who was so intoxicated he couldn’t take care of himself left a nearly $100,000 tip on a $7 sandwich, police said.
Barrie Police in Ontario responded to a bar at 11:30 p.m. Sunday for a 35-year-old Angus man who was too drunk to handle paying his bill.
The generous drunkard, whose identity was not released, was trying to pay with his credit card and, under the tip amount, wrote $98,931.87, police said.
Luckily for him his credit card was rejected. Unluckily for the waitress said she received no tip.
Police ultimately determined he was too intoxicated to properly take care of himself and transported him back to the police station, where he was held for a bail hearing.
The suspect appears to have had trouble with drinking in the past.
Police also reported he was on a court order to refrain from consuming alcohol.
Police did not release any other details on the incident.
A call from the Daily News seeking additional comment was not returned.
